Biography

Zaki Laïdi is a professor of International Relations at Sciences Po. He is the author of numerous books including “A World Without Meaning” (Routledge, 1998), “The Great Disruption” (Cambridge Polity, 2007), “Norms over Force: The Enigma of European Power” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2008), “Limited Achievements - Obama’s Foreign Policy” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012), and very recently “Europe in Reflux” (in French, 2013, Presses de Sciences Po). He has also published numerous articles, among the latest: “BRICS: Sovereignty Power and Weakness” in International Politics (Vol.49, September 2012, pp. 614-632). He is the scientific director of the double master degree between Sciences Po and Fudan University. He was a former special adviser to Pascal Lamy when commissioner for trade between 2000 and 2004. He writes extensively in French and foreign newspapers on current events. Among his latest pieces: “Europe’s Bad Trade Gamble?” (Project Syndicate, 11.07.2013) and “Trade deals show power politics is back” (Financial Times, 31.03.2013). He is preparing a book on the next TTIP between Europe and the US.
